Would You Please Call to Confirm Your Order
When we got home last night, there was a voicemail message asking me to call a vendor from whom I had just placed an electronics order online earlier in the day. The message was that I needed to call him to confirm the order. It was late when we got home, so no time to call. He even said I should call the next day in his message.
I told Marian that I bet the purpose of the call was to try to sell me more stuff. I have had that happen with other vendors before, but never with this one.
When I logged into my email this morning, there was a message from the same guy who said I needed to call him for the order to be released. So, I called, gave him my order number and he said: “Oh, your order was shipped last night.” So much for confirming, right?
Well, he then went into his sales pitch for other stuff I could get for “free” or “special price” if I had ordered it with the main item I bought. He told me that these were such deals that I should refuse the shipment they had already sent me and place a new order to include all these wonderful things. Throughout this entire conversation, I kept telling him I didn’t want anything more than what I had ordered. I think I repeated that about a dozen times before it sunk in and he wished me a good day.
Would you confirm that?
